A curious place Merida. The centre did not seem to me to be extensive enough for a city of around one and a half million people. The main plaza was attractive enough, and the buildings around it were examples of wonderful architecture, but it did not seem somehow to be enough. That plaza was visited a number of times during our stay there however, and when we returned from Playa Del Carmen we had an extra day to seek out any sights we had not already found. One such place was the fruit and vegetable market where I found some items that I could not readily get in Tequisquiapan.
